Kratom For Energy: Top Strains & How To Use Them
The best kratom for energy is going to include white strains, specifically White Maeng Da, Trainwreck, and White Thai, in that order. These strains should be used during the day, as taking them late in the evening can prevent one from falling asleep.
Additionally, kratom must be taken in a very specific dose if the goal is to increase energy, which I will cover as well later in this post.
Best Kratom Strains For Energy
White Maeng Da Kratom
White Maeng Da is known as the king of white strains, as it’s the most energizing of all strains and colors. Very few strains even come close to rivaling its energizing capabilities.
The creators of the Maeng Da strain intentionally set out to create the most potent strain possible, and thus, dubbed “Maeng Da,” which is Thai for pimp, was born.
Although White Maeng Da is the most energizing, the following strain is a bit more mood boosting.
Trainwreck Kratom
Trainwreck kratom, like Maeng Da, is a hybrid strain, and extremely energizing, and although it trails behind Maeng Da in energy, it is superior with regard to mood boosts.
Expect a nice uplift in motivation and optimism as you increase your energy.
White Thai Kratom
White Thai kratom ranks as the third best energy booster in my opinion. The energy uplift is potent and lasts a few hours.
However, much like Trainwreck, White Thai is also known to boost people’s mood. The mood boost is not as potent as the ones produced by green strains, but it can nevertheless make a positive difference in your day.
Best Kratom For Energy & Mood
Although white strains are extremely effective for producing energy boosts, they’re definitely not the best for producing mood boosts.
It’s true that some white strains can uplift you, but not as effectively as green strains.
Enter Green Maeng Da and Green Malay, the two most potent mood boosting strains on the market.
In my opinion Green Maeng Da is slightly more euphoric than Green Malay. However, that might not be the case with all vendors.
If Green Maeng Da were a 5 on the mood boosting scale, Green Malay would be a 4.5, but like with everything else in life, there is an opportunity cost to these strains.
Neither Green Maeng Da nor Green Malay are as energizing as White Maeng Da. They’re close, but not equal.
If your goal is to obtain the most potent combination for energy and mood boost, then I highly recommend using Green Maeng Da.
How Much Kratom Should I Use For Energy?
One of the very interesting things regarding kratom is how the size of the dose affects effects.
For example, regardless of color, large kratom doses are known to increase sedation while smaller doses are better suited for obtaining energy boosts.
Therefore, it’s possible to acquire small energy boosts with red strains, which are normally known as sedatives, when using small doses and also possible to get drowsy with white strains, which are known as energizers.
To sum it all up, stick with smaller doses, even when using white strains to get the best possible energy boost.
This begs the question, what is considered a small dose. The answer is going to depend on your average dose. If you normally use 3 grams of kratom, take 2.

The Toss N’ Wash, which consists of taking a spoonful of raw powder, swirling it around your mouth with water, and gulping it down, quickly produces very potent energy boosts, as fast as 5-10 minutes. The same goes for kratom tea.
However, the experience obtained from kratom tea wears off faster due to it being a liquid.
Capsules, on the other hand, can take anywhere from 30-45 minutes to feel the initial effects, and sometimes can be a bit weaker as well.
The upside for capsules lies in the ability to bypass kratom’s bitter taste and extreme convenience.
What Does a Kratom Energy Boost Feel Like?
To provide context and reference, allow me to explain what a kratom energy boost DOESN’T feel like.
Kratom’s energy boosts are not like caffeine boosts. They don’t provide a sudden and huge spike in energy followed by an equally powerful crash. They’re quite the opposite actually, with kratom providing a much more gradual and well-balanced boost. Kratom is also much less likely to produce unwanted side-effects like jitteriness and a crash.
If you were at all sleepy prior to using kratom, you can kiss the sedation goodbye.
Some people, including my friend who works at the local supplement shop here in Huntington Beach, CA, claims to be able to lift heavier and for longer periods thanks to kratom.
As a regular weight lifter, I can vouch for that myself. However, most people use the energy boosts to get through long and strenuous tasks, especially when physical labor is involved.
How Long Does a Kratom Energy Boost Last?
For the most part, kratom’s energy boosts can last anywhere from 3-5 hours. However, additionally factors can significantly impact the duration.
Factors like:
- How kratom was used
- Food in your system
- The person’s tolerance
The Toss and Wash method of using kratom tends to last longer than tea. Capsules last longer than the Toss and Wash and tea, but the effects are usually a tad bit less potent.
If possible, use kratom on an empty stomach (or nearly empty) to produce stronger and longer lasting results.
If you’ve been using kratom for a long time, you may have noticed the energy boosts becoming weaker or not lasting as long as when you first began using kratom.
If so, take a tolerance break to once again experience strong and long lasting energy boosts.
How to Boost Kratom's Energy Boosts
That's right, there are certain substances you can use along with your preferred kratom strain to increase the potency of the energy boost.
Lets begin with the first.
Caffeine
As we all know, caffeine can also increases your energy. Therefore, it only makes sense that combining an energizing kratom strain with a form of caffeine would increase energy boost.
However, don't expect a doubling of the boost. I'd say it's more like a 50% increase.
Whether you decide to drink the caffeine before or after the kratom doesn't matter, just make sure you drink one right after the other.
Additionally, the type of caffeine you decide to combine with kratom doesn't matter, but obviously the more potent the caffeine, the more potent the energy boost.
Citric Acid
Although I've tested this theory many times, I've yet to feel a significant difference. However, many people claim it works (maybe there's something wrong with me).
Drinking a form of citric acid, such as orange juice or lemonade, along with your kratom is said to increase the potency.
The citric acid in the juice helps increase the alkaloids' solubility, thus allowing you to absorb them faster, and produce a more potent result.
Black Pepper
Although many blogs rightfully claim that black pepper can potentiate kratom, they fail to mention that black pepper must be taken at least 30 minutes before using kratom.
Only then will black pepper increase the energy boost. However, like citric acid, don't expect a significant difference. The strongest of the three potentiators is, without a doubt, caffeine.
