Does Kratom Show Up On A Drug Test? I Drug Tested Myself

Kratom does not show up on a drug test. After using kratom on a daily basis for 2 years, I decided to drug test myself using a 5, 10, and 16 panel drug test. The 10 and 16 panel drug test screened for methadone, but failed to produce a false positive for methadone, or any other drug.  

The results for all three tests were negative, meaning the tests are unable to detect kratom's alkaloids, nor do they produce false positives.

I tested myself using a 5 panel drug test. The brand is called Easy @ Home. You can find the substances this test screens for listed down below. Kratom is not one of them. 5 panel drug tests are the most commonly used tests by employers and are much less likely to test for kratom as opposed to a 16 panel test. Here are some facts leading up to the test:

• I used kratom daily for about two years
• The day I took this test I had taken roughly 15 grams of Green Malay kratom powder
• I had used kratom about 4 hours before the test
• I took the powder via the Toss and Wash method

The Easy @ Home Test screens for the following substances: 

The instructions are as follows:

1. Pull the cap off and immerse the strip into urine for 10 seconds
2. Wait for 5 minutes, then read the results.

As you can see from the image below, I tested negative on the Easy @ Home drug test.  

I used the same urine from the Easy @ Home brand to drug test myself using the Prime Screen test. Hence, I took both tests at the same time, which means the same details apply.

I’ll relist the details below for the sake of you not having to scroll up:

• I used kratom daily for about two years
• The day I took this test I had taken roughly 15 grams of Green Malay kratom powder
• I had used kratom about 4 hours before the test
• I took the powder via the Toss and Wash method

The Prime Screen drug test screens for the following substances: 

The instructions are as follows:

1. Under room temperature, remove the test from the device pouch.
2. Pull out the cap and immerse the absorbent end into the urine sample for about 10 seconds.
3. Re-cap the device and lay it flat on a clean, dry, non-absorbent surface. Read the results in 5 minutes. Do not read after 30 minutes.

And as you can see this test also showed negative results. Hence, kratom was not detected.  

Last but not least, I used the 16 panel T-Cup company to test myself later in the same day. Here are some facts leading up to the test.

• I used new urine to test myself, not the one used for the 5 panel drug tests.
• I took more kratom (roughly 10 grams of Green Malay powder) about 15 minutes before the test
• I took the kratom via the toss and wash method
• I’ve been using kratom for roughly 2 years on a daily basis

The T-Cup tests for the following substances: 

As you can see, I tested negative for this test as well. The alkaloids were not detected by any of the other screens.

There you have it! Kratom is not likely to be detected on a drug test. However, I should mention that, although very unlikely, some 16 panel drug tests test specifically for kratom. Most employers use 5 panel drug tests, but if they use 16 panel drug tests, there is a small chance that you may test positive. So, please keep that in mind.
