Bali kratom takes its name from the world-renowned Indonesian party island and is one of the industry’s best-known strains. But is Bali’s lofty reputation down to marketing hype, or does this kratom have a genuine edge over others?

In this Bali kratom analysis, I will explore what makes this strain unique before discussing the differences between its red, white, green, and gold vein varieties. I will conclude the piece with a few legal considerations and some comments on Bali kratom’s side effects.

Before we begin, I should note that I’m a fan of white Bali kratom for its delightful but not overpowering energizing properties. That’s right, I am a keen kratom user who actually has experience with the herb - so you can trust that I know what I am talking about!

These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. The information in our articles are represented solely as the opinions of the respective authors, who do not claim to be medical professionals. We are not medical experts, just kratom enthusiasts.

What is Bali Kratom?

Bali kratom is a strain of Mitragyna speciosa found on the Indonesian island with the same name. Known for its rich alkaloid content and potent kratom effects, Bali strains are among the most popular available in the U.S. market.

Bali kratom is sold in different varieties, including red, white, green, and gold. This is determined by the color of the veins on the kratom leaves - each produces a distinct set of effects. For instance, red strains are often peaceful and euphoric, whereas white kratoms are energizing.

After cultivation, Bali kratom leaves are dried before being ground into a fine powder, ready for packaging into bags or infusing into capsules. You may also find enhanced or extracted Bali kratom products - these contain a more concentrated and potent version of the strain.

Types of Bali Kratom

Kratom Monkey stocks four types of Bali kratom: red, white, green, and gold. While these are all Bali strains, their effects are markedly different. Indeed, Red Bali has more in common with Red Borneo than with White Bali. Let’s delve into the effects of each Bali strain.

Red Bali Kratom

Prepare for euphoric sensations and happy thoughts when using this kratom. The most peaceful strain in the Bali collection, Red Bali is a popular mood-booster and perfect for kicking back with at night.

However, this kratom’s effects could make you a little drowsy and too chilled out, so I don’t recommend taking it during the day. Save it for when your work is done and you are ready to wind down.

White Bali Kratom

White Bali is associated with more energizing properties than its red counterpart. In need of a morning pick-me-up or something to help you stay focused and alert? White vein Bali is an excellent choice, with these effects particularly apparent in small servings.

Some users complain that white kratom makes them jittery. If you are one of them, consider White Bali. This strain has classic white vein kratom properties but is not as overwhelming as Maeng Da, Thai, or other super-fast white strains.

Green Bali Kratom

Find a brilliant balance between red and white Mitragyna speciosa strains with the delightful Green Bali kratom. Boasting a blend of energizing and euphoric effects, Green Bali is suitable for morning, afternoon, and evening consumption, like all good green vein kratom.

Gold Bali Kratom

Gold Bali is slightly different from the other Bali kratoms featured here. While nobody seems to know for sure, Gold Bali is likely a combination of red and green Bali, which is left in the sun after harvesting to ferment.

Subsequently, you can expect an experience in-between these red and green kratoms. If Red Bali makes you sleepy, Gold Bali may have enough of an energy boost to keep you feeling fresh.

How to Use Bali Kratom

You can enjoy Bali kratom in several ways. Each method has its advantages, whether in terms of effects, convenience, flavor, discretion, or something else. The possibilities of consuming kratom are endless, so let’s look at three of the most common techniques.

Toss and Wash Method

The ‘toss and wash’ approach is perfect for when you want fast-acting kratom effects. With no capsule to break down and digest, the kratom can get to work as soon as it reaches your stomach and passes into the bloodstream.

But there is no denying that Bali kratom, like other strains, has a sharp, harsh flavor. This is why some users aren’t keen on the toss-and-wash method. And I see their point: scooping bitter kratom powder into your mouth and washing it down with water is not for the faint-hearted.

That said, you can hack the method by using fruit juice instead of water for the “wash." Or simply sweeten the water to take the edge off kratom’s taste.

Kratom Capsules

Go flavorless with Bali kratom capsules! If you cannot tolerate the taste, consuming kratom in capsule form is the obvious option. What’s more, taking kratom caps is convenient and discreet, and you can determine your dosage with milligram precision.

However, kratom capsules have some drawbacks. The effects are more gradual, and not everybody can swallow them easily. And if you require large serving sizes, you have little choice but to gulp down several bulky 0-size caps or even more 00 or 000-size caps.

Kratom Tea

Brewing kratom tea is ideal for tackling Mitragyna speciosa’s bitter taste while bringing other ingredients into the mix. Kratom potentiators, such as cayenne pepper, turmeric, cat’s claw, and grapefruit, can enhance the herb’s effects, giving you more bang for your buck.

You have two options if working with Bali kratom powder. You can brew tea in a saucepan and strain the beverage before drinking. But if that is too much hassle, buy some empty tea bags, fill them with Bali kratom, and brew “instant” tea in a mug of boiling water.

The Legality of Bali Kratom

Bali kratom is subject to the same legislation as all other strains. Therefore, this kratom is federally legal but banned or regulated in several states. Kratom is illegal in Alabama, Arkansas, Indiana, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Wisconsin.

Arizona, Georgia, Nevada, Oklahoma, and Utah have approved the Kratom Consumer Protection Act, meaning that Bali kratom products must conform to official quality and labeling standards. Click here for an in-depth analysis of kratom law in the United States.

Side Effects and Safety Precautions for Bali Kratom

It would be dishonorable to write an article about Bali kratom without mentioning its side effects. It’s not something I enjoy discussing, but I believe that informed kratom use makes for safer kratom use!

Click here for a full breakdown of kratom’s side effects. I have picked out those you should be most aware of:

  • Addiction and withdrawal symptoms
  • Dizziness and drowsiness
  • Hallucinations
  • Headaches
  • Nausea and vomiting

Bali strains trend toward more peaceful and euphoric effects. Hence, you may be more likely to experience dizziness, drowsiness, and hallucinations with Bali than with other strains. But given we all respond to kratom differently, it’s impossible to say for sure.

Let me run through a few safety precautions - these apply to whichever Bali kratom you go for:

  • Read the product labeling and follow directions for use
  • Don’t consume kratom while under the influence of alcohol or marijuana
  • Take tolerance breaks to stop your dosage from creeping up
  • Don’t drive after consuming kratom
  • Keep kratom products away from children
