Kratom's popularity has increased rapidly, resulting in an increase in inquiries regarding the plant's legal status. Whether you live in South Carolina, or you are just visiting, this post will help you stay on the right side of the law.

South Carolina has not imposed any restrictions against the use, sale, or possession of kratom. As a result, all of the state's cities are free to buy, sell and possess the substance.

However, this begs the question. Will kratom remain indefinitely legal in South Carolina? The answer and more can be found in this guide.

These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. The information in our articles are represented solely as the opinions of the respective authors, who do not claim to be medical professionals. We are not medical experts, just kratom enthusiasts.
Is Kratom Legal in South Carolina?

The short answer is yes.

Unlike other states, South Carolina has not imposed any type of kratom ban, which means all cities and towns in the area can use, possess, and distribute kratom without encountering any problems with the law.

Cities inside South Carolina, like Columbia, Myrtle Beach, Charleston, Spartanburg, and Greenville do not impose any restrictions. Moreover, the use and monitoring of the substance remain unregulated.

Interestingly enough, most states which have zero kratom regulations require their residents to be within a certain age in order to buy and use kratom.

However, South Carolina, which doesn't regulate kratom, does not have any type of age restriction on the plant.

Only in North Carolina, its neighboring state, you must be 18 to purchase the herb.

Therefore, whether you are visiting South Carolina or are a current resident, rest assure you can use the kratom however you want without getting in any legal trouble.

Kratom Classification in South Carolina

Kratom Classification in South Carolina

Although the DEA has attempted to classify kratom as a Schedule 1 substance along with heroin and cocaine (yes, that really did happen), South Carolina has understood that kratom is not only not dangerous, but has helped millions of people around the world, and can actually provide many benefits.

Therefore, they have not attempted to classify kratom as any type of harmful substance, and thus, it remains completely unclassified until this very day, January 15, 2023.

If you're curious about kratom's legality at a federal level, check out this post I wrote called, "Is Kratom Legal in The US?

After doing my research, I was unable to find any proposals from state legislators with the intention of either banning or regulating kratom.

The state has no intention of changing the legality status of kratom.

Hence, if you're an avid kratom user residing in South Carolina, and are worried about losing your access to this amazing plant, rest assure, you've got nothing to worry about.

Where to Buy Kratom In South Carolina?

Where to Buy Kratom In South Carolina?

If you're in the market for some high quality kratom, I have to do you justice, and direct you towards an online vendor first and foremost.

You're simply much more likely to get higher quality and lower prices online than at a brick and mortar store, as the latter usually have more overhead, which translates to higher prices and less turnover.

However, if you're in need of kratom and cannot wait a few days for the delivery, you can find it in the following locations:

1. Head shops

2. Smoke shops

3. Dispensaries

4. Vape shops

5. Botanical shops

You might also find kratom at pharmacies, liquor stores, or gas stations. However, these three places are much less likely to have it in stock than the list mentioned above.

Additionally, once you find a place that stocks kratom, make sure it is labeled as organic, and if possible, ask for lab results.

From my experience, brick and mortar stores rarely have lab tests available, so you're best bet is going to be checking the brand's website. The lab results are usually linked in the footer menu.

To make your life easier, I've gone ahead and checked for the most popular vendor in South Carolina's three biggest cities. If you're in town, go ahead and pay them a visit for all your kratom needs.

In short, kratom is legal in South Carolina, and none of its cities have specific rules regarding the substance. Unlike other states where kratom is also legal, South Carolina doesn't have any age restrictions.

Whether you're visiting or reside in the state, feel free to buy and use kratom freely without the fear of legal repercussions.
