I will explore whether you can trust them, if they offer value for money, how they stack up against other brands, and much more. I have seen Moon Kratom come in for some stick, and want to examine if those criticisms are harsh or fair.

Let's start by analyzing who Moon Kratom is and what they are trying to achieve.

Moon Kratom was established in 2015 and is based in Austin, Texas. The company is a kratom retailer and wholesaler and sources its Mitragyna speciosa leaves from Southeast Asia. At first glance, they look like your average, run-of-the-mill vendor.

On their ‘About Us’ page, Moon talks of how customer satisfaction is a top priority and their belief in “building long-term customer relationships.” They claim to specialize in distributing high-quality products while selling “the best kratom at the lowest prices.”

Nothing particularly stands out besides the part about grinding kratom leaves into “flour powder.” This is supposedly a finer grade than you get from other brands, but you will have to contact them to learn more.

I like the ‘Moon Kratom’ name and some products have a distinct lunar feel, which is cool. However, the online store is dated and somewhat tricky to navigate - although a shoddy website design doesn’t tell you much, if anything, about a company's products.

As of June 2023, Moon Kratom accepts all major credit and debit cards, in addition to payment by cryptocurrency (Bitcoin and Litecoin). You can sometimes get free samples, although they didn't have any when I checked.

Moon Kratom has a range of own-brand powder and capsule products, but most of the extracts come from other vendors. I want to concentrate mostly on their own-branded kratom. Any prices stated were accurate as of June 2023.

Moon has a varied selection of finely-ground kratom powder. And while I have seen companies with more strains, Moon should pique everybody’s interest by stocking all five kratom vein colors. Whether you like slow, energizing, or fermented kratom, there is something for you.

The vendor describes its kratom powder as 100% natural, and each strain comes with a brief rundown of the potential effects. The kratom is freshly milled and packaged in a resealable bag for freshness.

Part of the bag is transparent, which is ideal for checking out the powder color before opening. But it leaves the product slightly exposed to light degradation, so you must take extra care with storage.

The massive bag sizes may appeal to seasoned kratom users - you can purchase 5 kilograms of powder at once! As an example, Moon’s Green Maeng Da typically retails at $495 for 5 kilos, but they had it on sale for a mere $345 ($69 per kg) when I looked. That’s impressive.

It is an open secret that plain kratom powder is sharp and bitter on the taste buds. So, why not encapsulate that flavor inside a kratom capsule? These products are also more portable and convenient than powder - and you can buy them from Moon Kratom!

The product description states that each capsule “weighs about 0.05 grams.” That would equate to 50mg, whereas most capsules contain 500mg or more powder. I would guess this is a typo. There was no information on the capsule size or type, which left me underwhelmed.

Moon markets the capsules as ‘Lunar Kratom Capsules’. This is a neat name and you will be pleased to learn they contain the same pure kratom powder. The vendor’s capsule collection is a little limited, but there is still a decent variety, and you can make savings with bigger purchases.

Strains: Green Maeng Da, Red Bali, White Maeng Da

Buying Options: 100 grams, 250 grams, 500 grams, 1 kilogram

Kratom extract powder is a more potent form of kratom powder. Manufacturers mix regular powder with an alkaloid-rich concentrate to enhance the effects. If you like large doses but are fed up with consuming lots of powder, you might want to consider kratom extracts.

Moon has an own-brand Kratom Extract Powder based on the well-balanced Green Maeng Da strain. The powder is described as ‘10x’, which indicates that 10% of the product is made up of pure alkaloids - that is about six times more intense than your typical kratom powder.

Moon Kratom’s 10X Extract Powder is available in three bag sizes: 25 grams, 50 grams, and 100 grams. The 25-gram pouch costs $30, which should give you some idea of the strength!

Moon also stocks a selection of kratom shots. These liquid extract products are portable, discreet, and sometimes created with non-kratom ingredients for wellness purposes. As of June 2023, all of the shots in the Moon Kratom store are from other brands.

Hush Kratom: This respected vendor specializes in kratom extracts, including shots. Hush Kratom is listed as a GMP-qualified vendor by the American Kratom Association (AKA).

O.P.M.S. Kratom: Another highly-rated brand, O.P.M.S also features on the AKA’s GMP-qualified vendor list. Stocking products from this vendor shows good judgment from Moon Kratom.

Mitra 165: This brand utilizes nanotechnology to create a potent and flavorful 165mg shot - it is intriguing, albeit unremarkable. Mitra 165 is not an AKA GMP-qualified vendor.

VivaZen: Moon Kratom stocks VivaZen’s Original Shot, which contains a proprietary blend of natural herbs. VivaZen is not currently an AKA GMP-qualified vendor.

Overall, these selections reflect well on Moon Kratom and give customers more options in the extract category.

The old-school website and lack of AKA certification raise questions about Moon Kratom. And I could not find any recent third-party lab results to validate the talk of high-quality kratom products. Not coming through with either of these does not reflect particularly well.

That said, I doubt Moon Kratom would offer free samples if they weren’t a genuine vendor - this would only alert customers to the potentially low quality. Furthermore, I don’t see why Moon would stock products from other brands if they weren’t serious about kratom.

The Moon Kratom website has dozens of product reviews. But there is no suggestion these are third-party authenticated by a company like Feefo or Yotpo. So, I am taking them with a pinch of salt.

Encouragingly, Moon Kratom fares relatively well on Reddit. I found some positive comments on this r/smallbatchkratom post. Interestingly, somebody who claimed to work for the company said that customers can find batches hit and miss.

There were more compliments for Moon Kratom on the r/Vendorsofkratom subreddit. The original poster enjoyed the brand’s Green Maeng Da and Yellow Thai.

Despite the absence of lab results and independent approval, Moon Kratom is a pretty popular vendor. Seeing these reports about the company on an independent site helps put me at ease.

Pricewise, Moon Kratom is a very affordable brand, especially if you bulk buy. One kilogram of kratom powder often costs well under $100 when they are offering promotions. Similarly, $160 for one kilogram of Maeng Da capsules also represents value for money.

This brings me back to the quality. If the kratom is superb, these prices are fantastic; if not, you will likely feel ripped off. And you could experience both with Moon Kratom - indeed, many vendors have consistency issues. But at their prices, you might be prepared to take a chance.

Moon Kratom clearly works for some users - and I am not surprised given their rock-bottom prices. If you can acquire free samples, you might be convinced to try them out. But I probably wouldn’t purchase from Moon without seeing some up-to-date lab results.
