Zion Herbals Brand Review [2023 Update]

Some kratom vendors enter the industry with transformative ambitions. Not content to stick with the old-school way, these brands seek to shake things up with innovative and more user-friendly kratom products. Zion Herbals is one such company doing just that.

But is Zion all it is made out to be; or does this vendor’s true strength lie in its marketing? I will discuss that in this review while examining some of their products and gauging public opinion. So, keep scrolling to get an honest view of Zion Herbals.

Let’s start with an introduction - or a refresher if you have come across this brand before.

These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. The information in our articles are represented solely as the opinions of the respective authors, who do not claim to be medical professionals. We are not medical experts, just kratom enthusiasts.

Get to Know Zion Herbals

Zion Herbals launched in 2010 and is based in Richmond, Virginia. Since day one, the company has been known for its creative approach to botanical products - and kratom in particular. Zion is not hesitant to try new things and improve the kratom experience for everyone.

I found Zion’s website layout a little confusing and frustrating. It wasn’t easy to search through all the products and brands available or to work out which products are theirs. The Zion store also has products from Kratomade and Nine Mile Botanicals.

Zion Herbals products are made in the United States. The vendor maintains social media profiles on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. However, I could not find an About Us page, which is slightly odd for a company in operation since 2010.

Introducing the Zion Herbals Kratom Range

The Zion Herbals store consists of many different products, and not all of them kratom (i.e., the Kava Soda). I will focus on the brand’s kratom offerings while looking mostly at their own-brand options. But there is a section for Kratomade products, which are too eye-catching to ignore.

Kratom Powder

Zion Herbals has a small kratom powder range comprising three Hulu Kapuas strains, three generic vein color strains, and a Maeng Da product. The selection is somewhat unusual but maybe not surprising since kratom powder is not seemingly the brand’s top priority.

The Hulu Kapuas strains come from Borneo, Indonesia, and are sold in four quantities, with one kilogram of powder priced at $100. The other kratom powder strains are peculiarly packaged in 500-gram resealable canisters - but they will only set you back $39.99.

Zion Herbals doesn’t mention anything about product effects or alkaloid percentages. However, I appreciate the photos showing the powder’s appearance. These products might appeal if you want low-cost kratom powder from a well-established vendor.

  • Strains: Green Vein Hulu Kapuas, Red Vein Hulu Kapuas, White Vein Hulu Kapuas, Green Vein, Red Vein, White Vein, Maeng Da
  • Bag Sizes: 100 grams, 250 grams, 500 grams, 1000 grams (1 kilo)

Kratom Extract Capsules and Tablets

Zion Herbals stocks various strengths of kratom extracts in capsule and tablet form. The potency boost is convenient if you like high dosages. Capsules are flavorless, but you can break tablets up to divide the serving. So, both product types have a place!

Let’s briefly go over three of the Kratom Extract Capsules and Tablets sold by Zion Herbals.

Silver Series: These full-spectrum kratom extract products contain 10% mitragynine, which is around eight times stronger than leaf powder (1.25% mitragynine). The other 90% is made up of minor kratom alkaloids and natural aliphatic plant compounds. Sold in 2ct and 10ct blister packs.

Gold Reserve: This kratom extract boasts 45% mitragynine, making it 4.5 times more potent than the Silver Series and 36 times stronger than standard leaf powder. Zion Herbals does not enhance products with 7-hydroxymitragynine. Sold in 2ct and 10ct blister packs.

Lucky 80: Zion’s Lucky 80 extract has an astonishing 80% mitragynine! At 64 times the strength of kratom powder, these high-potency caps and tabs are for seasoned kratom users. Sold in 2ct, 3ct, and 10ct blister packs.

Liquid Kratom Extracts

Demand has skyrocketed for liquid kratom extracts, tinctures, and shots. And Zion Herbals has multiple products that can bring more efficiency, portability, and discretion to your kratom sessions. Let’s look at three of them.

Lucky 80 Extract: Introducing Zion’s Lucky 80 Extract in liquid form! This 80% mitragynine product comes in a 15ml tincture bottle and contains three 42mg servings. The bottle’s dropper top makes for accurate and mess-free dosing.

Gold Reserve Tincture: This kratom-infused tincture delivers Zion’s Gold Reserve extract in water-soluble form. The manufacturer proudly uses a no-heat extraction process and food-grade natural solvents. Those features give this 15ml tincture premium-grade status.

24k GOLD Extract: Zion’s 45% mitragynine extract takes center stage in the 24k GOLD Extract Tincture. It’s full-spectrum, water-soluble, highly bioavailable, and sold in a discreet 15ml bottle.

Speciosa Soda

With the Speciosa Soda from Zion Herbals, you can get your daily kratom dose in a refreshing carbonated beverage. Each 12oz can contains 55mg of Zion’s 45% mitragynine extract and no added sugars - so you can indulge without feeling guilty!

The kratom extract used is full-spectrum, meaning the Speciosa Soda also has small amounts of minor alkaloids and other compounds found in Mitragyna speciosa leaves. These include mitraphylline, paynantheine, speciogynine, and 7-hydroxymitragynine.

Zion markets its Speciosa Soda as the “world’s first kratom soda.” The vendor offers this product in two flavors: Blueberry and Black Cherry. And there are plans to release the Speciosa Soda in Pomegranate and Apple flavors, too.

Speciosa Shot

We continue with the Speciosa Shot, a 2oz liquid kratom product made with Zion’s full-spectrum kratom extract. Mitragynine accounts for 45% of the extract, with other alkaloids and compounds making up the rest. So, why is the Speciosa Shot different from Zion’s other liquid kratom products?

The versatility is a stand-out feature. Unlike a tincture, you can drink a kratom shot for quick and easy dosing. But you can also combine it with a beverage if you don’t like the flavor or need some discretion. What’s more, Zion offers the shot at a remarkable $5.99!

Kratomade Products

Kratomade is a game-changing brand specializing in pure, water-soluble kratom products. And their flavors are perhaps better than anything the kratom industry has seen before. Here are the three types of Kratomade products for sale at Zion Herbals.

Drink Mix: Kratomade’s water-soluble drink mixes are perfect for on-the-go kratom use. Add to a glass of water, stir, and enjoy! Each sachet contains two servings and 100mg of mitragynine (50mg per serving). Sold in 24 flavors, including Acai Berry, Forest Fruit, and Red Orange.

Gummies: Kratomade’s convenient Kratom Gummies bring flavor and efficiency to kratom dosing. Each single serving pack contains 75mg of mitragynine. Available in eight flavors, including Berry Blend, Guava, Kiwi, and Tropical Rush.

Squeeze Packs: Kratomade’s flavored squeeze packs are another convenient option. Give the pack a shake, rip off the top, and enjoy 75mg of mitragynine directly from the tube. Choose from eight flavors, including Dragon Fruit, Guava, and Lemonade.

Is Zion Herbals Legit?

Being in the industry since 2010 is evidence that Zion Herbals is a legitimate company. As far as the quality of their kratom goes, we need to look at aspects like lab testing.

I found third-party certificates of analysis (COAs) for many (but not all) of the kratom products in the Zion Herbals store. These examined mitragynine levels and purity and were conducted by Columbia Laboratories. However, some COAs were dated as far back as 2020.

As of June 2023, Zion Herbals is not listed on the American Kratom Association’s GMP-qualified vendors page. But the Zion website suggests they previously had this accreditation.

The company has a restrictive refund policy that does not extend to opened products. Hence, nothing can be done if you purchase a product but don’t like it. Some vendors will grant a refund or store credit if most of a product’s contents are still there upon return.

Ultimately, Zion Herbals is a renowned brand with a respected product range. I remain confident this vendor’s kratom is legit. But there is room to improve on transparency matters.

Zion Herbals Brand Reputation

I could not find any product reviews from customers on the Zion Herbals site. So, I visited Reddit to scrutinize the brand’s reputation in-depth. Redditors are never shy to share their opinions!

In a comment on a 2023 r/Vendorsofkratom post, Zion’s Lucky 80 and Gold Reserve Extracts received praise from u/OriginalLHB. The comment got five upvotes, suggesting other Redditors agree.

Redditor u/DrJeckyllnMrHyde said, “In my opinion, Zion Herbals is better than any small batch kratom” in response to a post on the r/smallbatchkratom subreddit. They also loved the vendor’s Lucky 80 Extract.

I saw several complimentary comments about Zion Herbals, yet nothing scathing! It is typically a good sign when a brand is talked about often, but there is nothing negative to report.

Are Zion Herbals’ Kratom Products Worth the Money?

Zion Herbals is not an overly expensive vendor. The kratom powder is cheap, and Zion sells various potent kratom extract products at reasonable prices. And considering what people have been saying about them, none of this affordability has come at the expense of quality.

Zion Herbals also provides free shipping on orders over $50. Ultimately, while the vendor lacks a decent refund policy, the low product prices make up for it.

Final Thoughts

Once I got to grips with the Zion Herbals website, I was pleased with what I saw. This brand has embraced kratom innovation without becoming gimmicky or forgetting about what matters most: quality. I would like to see more up-to-date COAs, but Zion is clearly a hit with customers.
